Children’s fest 2013 -- “A feast to every eye”

The children’s fest 2013 was held on 30th November 2013 with the theme “let’s go crazy with nuts.” It started from 9 am and went on till 6.30 pm. various competitions were also organized pertaining to the day’s theme, where eight different schools participated in the various Competitions held during the day.

The day began with a stage programme, events like lighting of the lamp was done by the guests, and introduction was done by Mrs. Maggie the M.C. and Max Mario, a student of the VII grade class. Welcoming speech was made by the principal Rev. Fr. Anil D’Costa, and vote of thanks was proposed by Sandra D’souza.
The guests present were Rev.Fr. John Peter, Rev. Fr. Mahesh D’ Souza, Mr. Prashanth Bhatt and we also had a number of judges who had come to judge the competitions to be held during the day i.e. the Action song, Collage, wealth out of waste, fancy dress, Singing, Cooking without fire competitions, etc etc.

The stage programme came to an end when Fr. Anil declared the Children’s fest 2013 “Open” All Competitions began and went on at the same time at different places allotted. The judges and students were taken to the respective rooms kept aside for the competition.

The excitement, the adventure, the thrill in all the competitors was worth observing. The competitions went on for an hour or so. The judges made their decisions before they left the room and the judgment sheets were kept confidential.

The stage was a platform for the fancy dress and action song competitions and all the audience witnessed the grand, colourful and beautifully dressed children all set to exhibit their talents.

The audience was not left to be bored even for a single minute; the stage was kept rocking because it witnessed many of our students dance to various filmy numbers. The 9th STD students performed like Rock stars with their guitars. The crowd was starting to becoming bigger and bigger as even more number of parents, relatives of our students, friends, families of teachers, neighboring people all started pouring in the evening as it was the time for all the draws and results and the crazy game, Tombola or famous Housie-Housie, mean while the art/craft items made by the competitors in the collage and wealth out of waste category were displayed for the public. Series draw went on throughout the day. Guessing the nuts kept the crowd guessing till the very end. Games like wishing tree, nine pins, wheel of fortune, car race was all, on the minds of the crowd, the day’s menu took them on a world tour with all types of South Indian & Chinese dishes made available for the entire crowd. Especially for those who stayed in the noon (meals time). There was something for all to taste.

Around 5.30 the results of the greatly awaited gift hampers were announced with 1st prize having 4kgs of assorted nuts, 2nd prize having 2kgs and 3rd prize having 1 kg of assorted nuts. The guessing of the number of nuts followed next and to ‘Rock’ the crowd there was Housie-Housie at last. The prize winners were given away the cash awards on the spot.

And in this way the Children’s fest-2013 came to an end.
