An enthusiastic team of Manipal Police was present at the

and on sexual abuse among young children'.
The session was held in the Bonaventure Block at 3.00 pm.
Rev. Fr. Anil D’Costa the Principal of Trinity Central
School, introduced the Police team consisting of Mr.
Sudarshan M, Police Inspector; Mr. Sridhar MP,
Sub-Inspector; Mr. Uday Amin, Head Constable, Ms.
Nethravathi, Woman Police Head Constable and Mahadevi, PSI
and gave a warm welcome to them.
Students from Grades VIII, IX and X attended the talk that
was informative as well as practical like precautions
students must take on the roads, how to deal with strangers
etc.
The following members from the Manipal Police spoke on
different issues such as Road Safety, Prevention of Sexual
Abuse etc.
Police Sub-Inspector Mr. Sridhar MP explained about the
different kinds of sign boards and its importance. Mrs.
Nethravathi spoke on POCSO Act, how important it is to know
about child abuse and the consequences of the same in our
society.
Thereafter, the Police explained the protective measures the
students and the adults need to know and understand the
seriousness of sexual abuse in our society. The Police team
also shared their Emergency Telephone No. 100 and the fire
station no. 0820-2537222, so that they can be of immediate
support in case of emergency.
The police are alert and aware of several situations where
children and women are assaulted. They informed students and
teachers that we need to voice out such incidents in our
society with immediate care and urgency.
They also emphasized that when abuse is known, adults must
face the problem honestly, protect the child at all cost and
place responsibilities appropriately with the abuser.
In short, it was time for every Trinitarian to voice out
injustice and be responsible in our homes, workplace and
surroundings and to be alert and cautious.
It’s also very important to be well equipped with the
traffic rules for safety and security among students and
society on a whole. Hats off to the Manipal Police for being
an eye opener and guiding our youth.
