Vanamahotsava Day & Provincial’s Visitation
There are more life forms in a handful of forest soil than
there are people on the planet - Peter Wohlleben
Vanamahotsava is a celebration of lush green surroundings, a
celebration of joy, a moment to celebrate a greener and
cleaner world. Van Mahotsav is an annual tree planting
festival celebrated throughout India to honor and pay
respect to the mighty creators and the lungs of mother
earth. This tree planting festival is observed annually,
over a period of week starting from 1st July to 7th July.
To create awareness about preserving the trees and sustain
the mother earth for the upcoming generation ‘Vanamahotsava
Day’ was celebrated in the school.
The program began with the school choir leading the prayer.
Rev. Fr. Dr. John Alwyn Dias, the provincial minister of
Holy Trinity Province Karnataka graced the occasion with his
presence. He was joined by .Rev. Fr. Joywin Dias, the
Provincial Secretary, Rev. Fr. Cyril Roshan Menezes,
principal Rev Fr Dominic Sunil Lobo, vice principal Rev Fr
Ravi Rajesh Serrao, academic coordinator Ms Magdelina Lewis,
primary section head Dr. Poornima Devadiga and pre- primary
section head Ms Renita Monteiro.
Manyatha of grade 7 welcomed the gathering. The program was
inaugurated by planting a sapling by all the dignitaries.
Master Anshul of grade 7 articulated the importance of the
day. He gave brief information about the significance of
observing the Vanamahotsava Day. Thereafter the prize
winning dance performance at a recent competition organized
by NOSFAM, Manipal was performed by Ms. Prithvi of grade 10.
The students of grade 7 emphasized the importance of saving
nature through a street play in which they encouraged the
audience to keep the surroundings green and clean and to
raise voice against every act of harming the Earth.
Thereafter the tiny tots of kindergarten students presented
a skit basing on the theme ‘conserve the natural world’. The
students also expressed their love towards the environment
through a song.
Rev Fr. Dr. Alwyn Dias was felicitated on this occasion. In
his address, he expressed the love and respect towards
nature that one has to cultivate. He also suggested the
children to protect, promote and preserve the mother earth
by taking creative initiatives and having concrete action
plans.
Ms Khyathi of grade 10 who had secured runner up position in
the Mock press competition organized by NOSFAM, Manipal
reenacted her talent on this occasion. The session was
moderated by Ms. Preetha.
Master Sparsh of grade 7 proposed the vote of thanks. The
entire program was compered by Ronan and Suparna of grade 7.
The program came to an end by singing the school anthem.
