VANAMAHOTSAVA CELEBRATION “He who plants a tree, plants hope!”
Vanamahotsava is an annual tree planting festival
celebrated throughout India to honor and pay respect to the
mighty creator and the lungs of Mother Earth.
On 3-07-2024, As a part of celebration, the kindergarten
children of Trinity Central School enthusiastically
participated in the activity of planting saplings at home
and got themselves photographed. This motive was taken to
educate and make a habit for the children to respect and
care for the plants.
As an encouragement to plant saplings our tiny tots
presented a skit on mother earth during the assembly which
had a great effect on everyone present. It expressed the
importance of planting trees and their socio-economic
effects. Several hazardous problems or issues created by the
deforestation was highlighted through this skit. Over all,
it was a marvellous presentation by our tiny Trinitarians.
This was followed by the plantation of a sapling of
different kinds in each class by the students which showed
in them great eagerness.
As a part of individual activity all the children of every
class planted a seed in a coconut shell and the seed was
germinated and watered every day. The purpose of this
activity was to make the children understand the importance
of plastic free nation by using bio degradable products that
exist in nature. The motive was also to make the children
know how the plant grows from a seed and to raise awareness
of the value of plants and their caring.
All the children were taken across the School premises for a
nature walk. They were shown different kinds of plants and
trees. They were told the importance of trees and caring for
them.
The curiosity to learn and the will to create a change were
clearly seen with An Exhibition on leaf art which was
displayed by the kindergarten teachers. It was a mesmerizing
piece of art where all the children and the teachers enjoyed
watching them. The Provincial of Holy Trinity Province,
Karnataka Rev. Dr. Fr. John Alwyn Dias, Principal Rev. Fr.
Dominic Sunil Lobo ,Vice Principal Rev. Fr. Ravi Rajesh
Serrao, Academic Co-ordinator Miss Magdalina Lewis also took
a look at the leaf art exhibition and gave their
appreciation which was encouraging.
Overall the celebration of vanamahotsava educated our tiny
tots with awareness of trees and need of planting and
tending of trees, as trees are one of the best ways to
prevent global warming and reduce pollution.
