Workshop on Sensitive Teaching @ Trinity Central School
“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.”

A workshop on ‘sensitive education’ was organised in association with Rotary club Manipal for the teachers to understand the students of the present generation. Dr Deepa Marina Rasquina, Asst Professor, Dept of Clinical Psychology, Manipal College of Health Professions MAHE, Manipal was the resource person.

Rtn Nithyanda Nayak, Secretary, Rotary club Manipal Town, Rtn Dr Depak Ram Bairy, Interact Co ordinator, Rev. Fr Anil Dcosta, Principal of the school, Rev. Fr Ravi Rajesh Serrao, Vice Principal were present for the inauguration of the program. Ms Aninditha welcomed the gathering. Rtn Nithyananda Nayak addressed the gathering.

Dr Deepa Rasquina emphasised on the challenges faced by the teachers in handling the Gen-alpha students. Gen-alpha or generation alpha is the demographic cohort succeeding Generation Z. The children born after 2010 are termed Gen-alpha. They are also called i-generation.

Dr Deepa Rasquina spoke mainly about the challenges faced by the school to cater the i-generation and the strategies to handle them. The Covid-19 pandemic has played a significant role in the lives of the children resulting in a number of issues in their personality. Hence, it’s the responsibility of the teachers and parents to reach out to the level of the students and cater their personality development.

Dr Deepa Raquina concluded by giving certain tips to the teachers to cope up their personal and professional stress.

Ms Divya, the counsellor of the school proposed the vote of thanks. Rev. Fr Ravi Rajesh Serrao presented a memento to Dr Deepa Rasquina. The session was truly beneficial for the teachers to understand the challenges faced by the i-generation students both academically and mentally.
